Two-year stats

Brooklyn had an excellent two-year appointment with our family doctor. We continue to be thankful for a healthy, happy, and very typical two year old. She is fond of saying, "I not," "No, no, Momma (or Dada)," and "I all done...NOW!" However, she does have manners too and very often and quite enthusiastically will say "thank you" when it's appropriate. We need to be very careful of the words we use and the actions we show...she watches and mimics everything. She reminds me of her Cousin Blake, who has never missed a beat.

Two-year stats:
  • Height: 34.25"; 59%
  • Weight: 29 lbs, 4 oz.; 79%
  • Height-to-Weight: 21%
  • Head: 19.75"; 99%
We love her enthusiasm, stubbornness, and ability to remind us of what is truly important in life.

[Note: I desperately wanted a photo in the rocking chair with the same bears as we did every three months for the first year but someone else didn't like that idea.]

Brooklyn's second birthday party!

We celebrated Brooklyn's birthday on Saturday, September 8, at our house. We enjoyed having family and friends come to celebrate Brooklyn turning two. She enjoyed the cake, loved all the action, but wasn't too interested in opening presents after the first couple.

She got such nice presents -- thanks again, everyone -- but especially loves her Care Bear couch (nice pick, Uncle Paul), her dolls and their accessories, and her swim lessons.

Thank you to those that were able to come and celebrate with us. Brooklyn is so special to us and we're so blessed to have so many people in her life that love and care for her.

Celebrating on her birthday, September 11...

Grandma Donna has arrived!

We were blessed to have Grandma Donna in town for a couple weeks for Brooklyn's birthday. Brooklyn and Donna picked up where they left off when we last saw her. We shared lots of love, giggles, and memories. Thanks for coming, Mom! It meant so much to us. XOXO

Our favorite week of the year

Renting a cabin in northern Minnesota is our favorite week of the year. Brooklyn seems to enjoy it as much as we do. From hanging on the beach to taking a boat cruise, from fishing to bonfires, she loves it all. It was a hot week but we had a great time!

Our first time apart

I had a week-long work trip in Vegas in July and Mike came out to join me for a portion of the week. During that time, Brooklyn stayed with Grandma Linda and Grandpa Terry. For four days, they hung out, went shopping, and played outside.  I think we were all a little nervous about being away for so long. She did great! It was nice to have some adult time and to spend time with together.
A special thanks to Linda and Terry for making our trip possible.

In addition, it was Mike's first extended period of time watching Brooklyn solo. It would have been a much easier experience but Brooklyn ended up with a high fever and ear infection the day after I left. It was so hard to be away when I knew she wasn't feeling well.

Independence Day

We enjoyed celebrating Independence Day at home at the local YMCA and a BBQ with friends. Other than our typical Miss Independent moments, our day was going rather nicely....until our Urgent Care visit. While trying to get showered and dressed at the YMCA, Brooklyn slipped and fell slicing open her forehead. She got liquid stitches and handled it like a champ. I think Mom and Dad had a harder time with than she did!

We attempted to stay out for fireworks but Brooklyn wasn't able to stay awake.

I can dress myself!

Mama's birthday 2012

Mom's birthday provided an excellent opportunity for Brooklyn to enjoy her very first individual Dairy Queen treat. Let's just say she enjoyed it!

Dada's Day 2012

Happy Father's Day to a fabulous Dad (and Grandpa and Uncle)! We love you!

Girls trip

Brooklyn and I went to Florida for some girl time with Grandma Donna. Despite a couple of rainy days, we enjoyed the beach and veggin' with Grandma.

Away we go!
